Backup & Restore with O&O BlueCon

O&O BlueCon XXL

Windows has the serious fault of not working properly after malfunctioning software or drivers have been installed. This can even result in a 'dead' Windows system before the user has had the chance to recover the system. O&O BlueCon is the most powerful system recovery tool available - the user can revive and thereby save a damaged or defunct Windows XP/2000/NT system. Thanks to the new integrated features the user has control over the system right there in the blue screen before the Windows system boots. As a result the user is prepared for a possible system crash, making O&O BlueCon a must-have utility for every Windows XP/2000/NT system and its administrator: An investment which easily yields a positive ROI.

The unique possibility of restoring files without having to run Windows increases the chances of restoration for the deleted data significantly. Further overwriting of the deleted data by other applications or the operating system is prevented by the use of the O&O BlueCon Boot CD.

The secure erasure of data is now easier than ever with O&O BlueCon XXL. Since the using the O&O BlueCon Boot CD doesn't start your operating system from the hard disk, all files, folders, partitions and even hard disks can be securely and permanently deleted. You can choose from five different methods, familiar from O&O SafeErase, and thereby overwrite your data up to 27 times.

Administration of Windows in the Blue Screen

O&O BlueCon runs in the Blue Screen as a part of the boot process of Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT before any other application. This ensures that malfunctioning programs, drivers and services are not started, avoiding a system crash. When O&O BlueCon is launched from the hard disk, the user can decide whether he wants to change into the console mode or continue booting Windows. A password check prevents unauthorized users from accessing the computer. However, if you run O&O BlueCon from floppy disk, it will switch into console mode. File system drivers are loaded, enabling access to your FAT- and NTFS-partitions. An interactive user interface, familiar from DOS-prompt, allows you to enter commands with their parameters.

O&O BlueCon runs before the start of the actual operating system. This ensures that defective programs, drivers and services haven't already been started. If neither restarting nor activating previous configurations help, it's normally too late. Until now, the only option was a parallel or new installation - endless hours of painstaking and expensive configuration of the computer. Rescuing data could make you despair! Thanks to O&O BlueCon, these days are over.

O&O BlueCon provides standard commands like DIR, COPY, DEL etc. as well as a lot of additional commands to help you in restoring your Windows XP/2000/NT installation. They give you the chance to individually activate and deactivate drivers and system services. You can also replace them by newer versions. O&O BlueCon XXL now offers you the possibility of restoring already deleted data.

Now you can restore non-functioning XP/2000/NT installations, rescue data from defective hard disk drives, reset a forgotten administrator password and much more with O&O BlueCon XXL. The possibility of starting O&O BlueCon from a floppy or CD-rom means you can access systems whose hard disk will no longer boot.

Highlight 1: Repair crashed XP/2000/NT-Installations

O&O BlueCon helps you to get to the heart of the problem. Restore your configuration, even if the system crashes before you can log on. Delete malfunctioning drivers, services or programs and replace them with newer, correct versions.

Highlight 2: Rescue data from a defective XP/2000/NT system

The copy function allows you to rescue files from defective hard drives. You can use read-only access to the system, so you don't have to risk data loss with write access or a reinstallation.

Highlight 3: Restore deleted files with UNERASE

When you delete files from your hard drive, this just means that the space they used to occupy is freed up for overwriting with new data. The original data is still there. With O&O BlueCon XXL, you can restore files that have not been overwritten and thereby save yourself a lot of work, stress and money.

Highlight 4: Delete data securely with SAFEERASE

In some circumstances, unauthorized persons can restore deleted files. This potential security risk can be avoided with O&O BlueCon XXL. You can delete any number of files, folders, partitions or entire hard disks with scientifically recognized erasure methods and overwrite them up to 27 times - thereby preventing anyone from restoring your data.

Highlight 5: Deactivate bad drivers and services

One of the most common reasons for system crashes are malfunctioning drivers or services. But these are loaded before the user can log on - thus, you have no chance to remove or replace them. Deactivate the driver or service by using O&O BlueCon's driver and service configuration, or replace them by newer versions.

Highlight 6: Manipulate the registry

The registry is the central storage for the whole system and user configuration. Errors or defects in the registry can cause your system to work incorrectly. Wrong parameters for drivers or services can also cause severe problems. A line-oriented registry editor included in O&O BlueCon allows you to change and correct entries in the registry.

Highlight 7: Edit ASCII files

The EDLIN-tool allows you to edit ASCII-files. So you can edit all ASCII-files on your system, e.g. if you replace your IDE-drives by SCSI-drives, you can change BOOT.INI for correct settings of the boot path.

Highlight 8: Create rescue floppies/CD-roms with the help of the O&O BootWizard

The BootWizard for O&O BlueCon leads you step-by-step through the creation of boot floppies of the files needed for a boot CD-rom. See for yourself how easy and quick repairing Windows XP/2000/NT can be!

Highlight 9: Access any system without the Administrator password

Without your password, you will not get access to your XP/2000/NT system. If you lose or forget it, the only solution is to reinstall Windows in order to regain access. O&O BlueCon offers a tool to reset or change the password of local user accounts in order to give you access to your machine again.

Highlight 10: OEM driver support

O&O BlueCon XXL additionally supports OEM drivers. In this way, you can access hardware that is not directly supported by Windows.
