O&O DriveLED V2.0

Facts & Features

No other single part of the modern computer system is more susceptible to malfunction than the hard disk. In fact, such a malfunction can be unavoidable. With Windows-based O&O DriveLED, however, you now have the ability to recognize a potential malfunction before it happens. You can then secure your data and, through the removal of affected hard disk drives, potentially avoiding a fatal loss of data.

Hardware monitoring using S.M.A.R.T.

The new O&O DriveLED permanently monitors the status of your hard disks in the background. With the help of S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology), O&O DriveLED analyses internal information of your hard disks and warns you in case of upcoming problems.

about the status of hard disks

Displaying information in the windows task bar

O&O DriveLED also shows the status of your hard disks in the Windows task bar. Thus you can immediately see, if your drives work properly and that O&O DriveLED did not recognize any malfunction.

Green state
- all hard drives work properly

Red state
- at least one hard drive reports problems.

S.M.A.R.T. Self-tests for an immediate check of your hard disks

Immediately after installation O&O DriveLED provides you the ability to make an intensive analysis of all of your hard disks. Every hard disk that supports S.M.A.R.T. is able to run self tests. Using O&O DriveLED you can start a self test of your hard disk with only one mouse click. During the tests several parameters and functions are being consecutively checked. Among other things, the interface, the surface and the mechanics - actually every read head - are being checked. Afterwards the error log will be read and finally also the S.M.A.R.T. system itself will be tested.

At the end and if there were no failures found, the corresponding entry lights up in green color. If some failures occurred, O&O DriveLED will notify you. In this case it is recommended to backup your data.

Access monitoring on the desktop

Have you often asked yourself why your hard disk starts up even when you aren't writing anything to it? Until now, you could only check hard disk activity by looking at the little lamp (LED) on the front of your computer. But who wants to be constantly looking under the table whilst trying to work or play games? From now on, you don't have to crane your neck anymore to see if your hard disk is currently active. Now you can use O&O DriveLED.

O&O DriveLED takes the hard disk LED, which is built into your computer, and puts it right there on your monitor screen. And there's more - you can see information about activity on virtual drives, e.g. network drives, and you can easily tell the difference between disk reading and disk writing activity.
